Kalshi, a regulated prediction market exchange, has announced a new referral programme designed to expand its user base. The initiative allows current users to earn rewards by introducing new individuals to the platform, where they can trade on the outcome of future events.
Under the terms of the programme, existing Kalshi users can receive a financial incentive for each new person they successfully refer. This bonus is reported to be £25 per referral, with participants able to accumulate earnings up to a maximum of £2,000. Such programmes are a common strategy for digital platforms aiming to foster growth through word-of-mouth marketing.
Prediction markets like Kalshi enable participants to buy and sell contracts based on the likelihood of specific events occurring. These contracts typically pay out a fixed sum if the predicted event happens, and nothing if it does not. The price of a contract on such a platform often reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that event.
The introduction of this referral scheme provides an avenue for Kalshi to attract more users, potentially increasing liquidity and diversity of opinion within its markets. Greater participation generally leads to more efficient price discovery, as a wider range of perspectives is incorporated into contract pricing on the exchange.
