Kalshi, Robinhood Prediction Markets and Polymarket's US product are all available nationwide as federally regulated derivatives. State-licensed sports exchanges such as Sporttrade operate only in the states where they hold a licence.
Event contracts are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as derivatives, not by state gambling regulators. That distinction is contested by several states, so the landscape can change - check each brand page for current status.
Contracts settle at $1 or $0 and trade between 1c and 99c on a central limit order book, cleared through a registered clearing house.
Bank transfer (ACH), debit card and Apple Pay are standard. Crypto funding is available on some venues.
Are prediction markets legal in the US?
Federally regulated event contracts are legal nationwide, though several states dispute this for sports contracts.
Do I need to verify my identity?
Yes, on every regulated US venue.
